Okay, I changed my alias to the "original author".
They contacted me in person, and I'm pretty positive that they are the
real fbi. At least they left me enough information to be able to check
their existence. And again, Rete & others are right, it's about a
couple of people I know, who they would like information about.
What was really unpleasant was that I was asked to rat on and lie to
people I know in order to sneak information out of them that might be
useful to the fbi. This is pretty traumatic, since I don't know how
legal it is for them to ask me to do this, as well as how legal it is
for me to say no. I was unaware of that side of the fbi and possibly
police work - when immigrants are being offered to do such things.
Another unpleasant moment was that it seems that my e-mail had been
read. This means that my own friends may now be on the list of such
visits. I was also repeatedly asked to give "names", which I understand
are people who they might want to question further.
So I would be dealing with them through a lawyer, but that would also
mark me as being "non-cooperative", and I'm afraid may cost me the
pending GC. Either way, it seems that I'm screwed.
