I don't have any updates from anyone with USCIS authority, but I did
speak to my designated school official/international student advisor
about it, and she indicated that it doesn't really matter all that
much.
She said that yes, it's better if all the information on the card is
correct, but that I probably shouldn't bother sending it back because
it'll just take another 3 months to get a new card. In the end, my name
and photograph are on it, and I do have a copy of the application that
I sent to them with the CORRECT country of birth in the correct place.
Just a precaution should any questions from USCIS arise in the future.
It is my impression that as long as you have proof that when you
applied you gave the right information, and nothing else on your EAD is
out of order, it's most likely will not be a problem.
