Hello
I just want to confirm something with you all, as I keep hearing
conflicting advice from people that have moved to the US on an H1 visa.
I may have the opportunity of working for a US accountancy audit firm (2
of my colleagues have just moved there, and their H1 visas have just
been approved, I would not be interested until next year, I know the
quota is running out).
The accountancy firm is a large one, and also has offices in the UK. Do
you think that I could ask them to employ me via the London office, so
that I can apply for an L1 rather than H1, which would allow my future
husband (well, he will be by then!) to work on a L2 visa (I know that
there is the whole EAD concept). I know he can’t work on an H4, and he
really wants to work. Apart from that, I know that there is something
about applying for an AOS, which will entitle him to get an EAD. How
long does this take? We can be apart for say a year (whilst he works in
London), but can’t really do that much longer than that. He works in
IT (don’t they all!), an there are quite a few jobs advertised for
him, but all the recruitment companies in the States where not
interested once they found out he needed a visa.
Thanks for any advice
