You Idea could work, if the UK Office employs you. But AOS has nothing
to do with this. AOS is a process of adjusting status to permanent
residency, which has nothing todo with either H1 or L1 Visa. He can
get the EAD solely on the basis of havin L2 status - no AOS involved
or needed.
