If you plan to visit India after you have received your green card you are
still going to need a passport, so why not renew it? That will solve your
problem. Even if you don't plan to travel to India, once you have a green
card, it would still seem sensible to have a passport that is of the country
of your citizenship. You never know when you might need it.
