We applied to bring my stepdaughter here as the adult child of a citizen in
August 2002. The current priority date for F-1 is April 2001, which would
indicate she has at least one and a half years to go. Her file was approved
a couple of months ago by the service center, and transferred to the
National Visa Center. The NVC sent us the forms which we completed and
returned. Monday we received the bill of $380 for the visa, which we paid
and returned. I am surprised they would bill us this soon if she still has
approximately one and a half years to go prior to receiving her visa. Can
someone please let me know what we can expect at this time? Are we looking
at one and half years, or does the NVC have a qualifying date which might be
earlier?
