Not from the US, from the home country.
I recall reading about such a restriction for Thailand--if the Thai
citizen takes up US (or any other?) citizenship, they are no longer
allowed to own a piece of the motherland.
A'course, I could've misremembered this, but maybe that is what the OP
was referring to.
