changing your name on your passport Posted on: Fri, 24 Mar 2006 18:08:50 +0000

Hi,

Just a question about passports.

I entered the US on a K1 visa and i am now married. I have my adjustment
of status interview in May and I wanted to ask whether it matters if i
change my surname on my british passport before or after the
interview??? also after looking on the internet I think the office that
changes british passports is in Washington?

I also wondered what I actually get for being a lawful permanent
resident of the US , is it a visa that goes in my passport? i am not
sure about this.

The reason I am asking is I want to go back to the UK in July for a
wedding (thats if i am a legal permanent resident by then) and i wanted
to get my passport sorted before that so all the names on my documents
correspond.

If anyone knows the procedure with this or has done this themselves,
please send me any info!
thanks
