Thinking though about the difficulties America had ending slavery, I
think perhaps a gradual approach would work best. You can't move from
an economy based on exploitation of illegal labour to a fair trade
scheme overnight without massive disruption.
But then, nothing is going to happen with the Republicans in power and
the Democrats lining up to get corporate donations. Expect only
cosmetic change. Corporations want lower wages. It is that simple.
