I'm in a very tricky situation. I just need some advice, if that's a
all possible.
I am 21 years old and born and raised in England. I have a passport t
the USA and nothing else. When I was 17 I moved to Toronto, CA, for
months to work as a nanny. I visited Niagara Falls and crossed th
border to the US for pizza. On my way out of the US I never returned m
green visa waiver form.
Three months later I planned a trip to NYC and flew down from Toronto
I wasn't even question for long, they asked what I as doing and such
But it was never an issue that I originally didn't give my green sli
back to them.
I went back to England to live two months later, but moved to Florid
when I was 19 in November of '04. I've been here ever since. Again whe
I entered the country in Texas, they never questioned the fact that
had never returned my green slip a couple of years back. But now
really have overstayed my visa. By almost two years.
It wasn't the smartest idea, but I guess ignorance is my only excuse.
never thought it would be a problem, I thought I'd meet someone and ge
married and that would be it. I was young and naive, and I still am i
many ways.
As you can imagine, I am completely bewildered as what I am supposed t
do. I have been working for my cousin by looking after his children, an
want to become a teacher eventually, but cannot whilst I am her
illegally. I really just want to become a legal citizen/resident so
can go back to school and make my life for the better.
I was told that if I left out of San Diego there would be no record o
me leaving and could get back into the USA no questions asked. Then
found out that I was probably already on record as an "overstay".
just don't know what to do. I am desperate to visit home, and also t
forward my life. But I don't want to leave the USA and then be banne
from re-entering for up to ten years as I absolutely adore it here an
couldn't stand to leave for good.
Can anyone give me some advice? What's my best options? How do I ge
myself out of this tricky situation? Money isn't really an issue
although I don't make a lot and couldn't pay a lawyer a huge amount i
it wouldn't guarentee me a greencard. I just don't know what to do
please help
