The officer might have said "approved pending name check (or
security check)".


As others have mentioned, you'll need Advance Parole if you don't have
your PR status by October. AP takes about 3 months to receive after
filing the I-131, so make sure to file ahead of time. If you've had
previous overstay issues, do not use AP, do not leave the USA until you
have PR status.
