as you are going to be out of US for "couple of years" how the US
emplouer can keep you on the job?
you need to be in US on valid status to file I-485 when priority date to
become current . I-485 cant be filed when you are out of US
you may have to start again but can retain old PD if your I-140 is not
revoked. at the time of filing second I-140 your lawyer can recapture
early PD if you provide him copy of past approved I-140.
**** talk to your company lawyer about consular processing
