Have you received firm job offers yet? The school must apply for the
visas on your behalf, and time is rapidly running out. For employment
beginning Oct. 1, 2007, employers can submit applications starting April
1. The annual quota of H1b visas will be exhausted very quickly. If
your applications aren't submitted the first week of April, your chances
of success are low. I'm sure every immigration lawyer in the USA has a
stack of H1 applications ready to be filed April 1. Even if you get
visas, you wouldn't be able to start working before October 1. Does the
school know about that, and will they agree to it? Your plan is not
impossible, but will be very difficult to accomplish without an
extremely helpful and accommodating employer.
