I know you guys normally recommend getting one's political
representative involved. We have tried this and found it completely
pointless. All they do is periodically ask the agency that coordinates
the background checks about the status. They don't seem to be able to
do anything to move things forward.

Every 2-3 months we get a letter from our representative, telling us
that our son's background check is still "pending". Which is the same
thing we are told when we go to our CIS and ask in person.

No one has a clue as to WTF is going on. Three years have passed since
my son's fingerprints were taken. It's a bloody disgrace. And there is
F-All anyone can do. I have looked into filing a Mandamus action but
concluded that we probably wouldn't have a case until another 3-6 years
have elapsed.
