NEVER send originals of anything... you will not get them back. As far
as I know, you do *not* need to get it notarized. I did not have my UK
birth certificate notarized... had no problems whatsoever. However, if
you do want to get it notarized, almost every bank has at least one
notary public. Your own bank will probably notarize it for free.
