While processing times do vary, they generally seem to run about 4 - 6
months from the time you submit the application to the interview, and
probably another month or two until the oath ceremony. Very few places
do the oath ceremony the same day as the interview... and I'm guessing
that Pittsburgh isn't one of them. As for passports, there is quite a
backlog and it's taking anywhere from 3 - 6 months to get a US passport.
I don't know if any of this helps you, but it may serve to give you a
rough timeline for your travel arrangements.
If it was me, I'd either take the trip before applying for
naturalization (while you can still use your UK passport and GC to enter
the US), or give it at least 10 - 12 months after applying to go.
