I'm sure it will work for you if you really, really believe it will
work. After all, immigration employees are all very kind and
understanding people, and they are sure to believe that the mixup
in your travel dates is purely accidental. I'm sure this happens
all the time.
I'm sure that immigration will believe you... after all, you are honest
and hard working, and have not tried to manipulate the immigration
system to your benefit.
Oh, and don't forget that all of your plans and schemes rests on one
single act... that you will be allowed back into the US after you
leave. You have no guarantee of re-entry... plane ticket or not... visa
waiver or not.
