That's a very normal thing to happen after an interview. Many people
get put on admin processing after an interview. It just means that they
are doing more research on your case, looking through your file, double
checking something or other. There is no way they will tell you exactly
what they are doing. I know you were told that your passport and visa
would be returned within a week, but it is VERY common for admin
processing to take longer than that. There's nothing to be worried or
concerned about, in my opinion.
I would also refrain from emailing them again. You won't find out
anything more, and you will just get the standard blurb back again.
Once you have your passport and visa in hand, then if you want to
write a complaint letter somehow, do it then....not before you have
your visa in hand.
So far, I have to say from what you've said, it all sounds very normal
to me. Some of the officers can get snippy and harsh, some are really
friendly. Just depends. Every once in a while you run into a "ConOff
from Hell" who questions everything and is very hard on the applicant.
Actually, it was your interview, not your wife's, so it was totally
within the ConOff's rights to ask your wife to step away from the
window. Letting the USC spouse attend the interview is just a courtesy
London extends to the visa applicant. Not all embassies allow the USC
spouse to be present at the interview.
Sorry you had such a bad experience, but I would just chill out and keep
waiting patiently. Admin review/processing is quite normal.
Best Wishes,
Rene
