Subject: Delaying naturalization oath Posted on: Wed, 9 Jan 2008 15:56:23 +0000 (UTC)

I had my interview on Oct 17th, 2007 and was approved for
citizenship. My naturalization oath ceremony was scheduled for Oct
28, 2007 which I could not attend. I sent a letter to USCIS Chicago
office (my office) that I cannot attend the oath ceremony since I am
out of the country taking care of my ailing father. I suggested
couple of alternate dates. They sent another oath ceremony letter for
Nov 14th, 2007 - which I also could not attend since they sent it just
a couple of days before Nov 14th - and I could not make it. I sent a
letter again explaining why and suggested alternate dates after Nov
14th (Dec 07 and Jan/Feb 07). However, I haven't received another
oath ceremony invitation letter again. I know it was Thanksgiving and
Christmas after Nov 14th - but still..

1) Is anyone aware of USCIS policy regarding postponing oath ceremony
dates - I simply cannot find anything on the Internet regarding this
topic and what to expect from USCIS in this regard

2) What should I do - send another letter...? I certainly don't want
to invalidate my standing...

Cheers
