Subject: TN expiry question

Hi All-

I'm living in the states with wife and kid on TN (she has TD, and is
not a Canadian citizen). My TN is expiring on Mar 17; I intend to
apply for renewal at the US-Can border.

Do I have to leave the US before (or on) Mar 17? And then move back
after getting an extension? Somebody told me since my wife is not a
Canadian citizen we (or at least she) has to leave the US before Mar
17 for sure. Is this correct?

I'll appreciate any replies.
