Oath Ceremony in Miami Posted on: Thu, 8 May 2008 21:05:09 +0300

just received my invite to oath ceremony, to be held in a couple weeks.

does anyone know, are these held fairly regularly or is it a once-a-week
affair or similar?

scanning the invitation letter, it appears there is no other requirement
than to answer the questions on the back, sign, date and fill in name,
address and turn in the alien card (aka. green card). the letter does not
have a requirement to sign the invitation in the presence of a USCIS officer
so I plan on having it filled out completely before the ceremony.

how long are the proceedings? one hour?

now, I've been told to immediately go ahead and get a US passport so I
planned on getting Sears photos taken and with me so that I can simply drop
the Nat Cert in the mail at any local US Post Office that processes passport
applications. of course the danger is that my newly minted Nat Cert will
disappear in the process but once issues it should be no big deal to get a
duplicate copy should the passport application process not return it to me.
