Davide,
on a recent trip one woman used a particular (German) brand of
insect repellant, most likely without DEET, and she had an
unusually large number of mosquito stings. I think the stuff
actually attracted mosquitos.
30% DEET sounds good.
Also, bring Malarone. On a 33 day trip, you have to decide
whether to take it as a prophylactic or whether to carry it as a
cure. If you go to an area where it's wet and malaria is
endemic, I would recommend to use it as a prophylactic.
You could also use Lariam if you've tested it on yourself and
don't experience too unpleasant side effects. If you take
Lariam, I would recommend to begin taking it 3 weeks before you
leave and to switch to Malarone if you don't like the side
effects of Lariam. Lariam is cheaper, but still expensive.
