Suggest you subscribe to an overland forum and monitor the
postings for awhile,
amongst all the chit-chat there are some very interesting
bits of information that you will find useful
(www.overland.co.za).

When you say east-side, where exactly, east-side north or
south?
What countries will you be visiting, itinerary?

As for vehicle? Again very much dependant on the countries
you will be visiting.
