Hi all and Namibia lovers in particular,
This is a general discussion topic hoping to shed some light on what
is going on in the Communal Lands of Namibia.
It seems to me that there is a lot of confusion, including my own,
about how the Conservancy areas, the old Concession areas, the many
new lodges with their PTOs and EDZ's all hang together and what this
means for the tourists at both the top and bottom of the markets and
the communities themselves.
For instance there is a new lodge to be built on the Ugab River not
far from the Wilderness Camp Site with a considerable EDZ (Exclusive
Development Zone) which might put some people off visiting that part
of the river. Also there is the question as to what will happen to the
Pamwag Concession area once the concession expires.
I realise that this may be a minority topic so I am not going to write
any more now but if you are interested in this subject please feel
free to post your views, comments and questions and perhaps between us
we can bring some light to a poorly illuminated subject.
Best Wishes
