Good choice of destinations being first time in Africa. You will love it.

Have been to Zanzibar twice. I used http://www.allaboutzanzibar.com/ and
they were very good. (When they had given wrong information about a flight
to Pemba they promptly offered to hire a plane to fly us there. Good
service!!) I am not associated with them in any way at all - just a customer
who thinks AAZ should benefit from our good experience.

Spend a couple of days in Stonetown although you want the beaches. Go on a
spice tour - touristy but fun to see the plants and trees of welknown spices
we normally only see as powder or dried. Fun to watch scenery as well. What
is also interesting about Zanzibar is the arabic influence in this African
country. As you can see I would find it a shame just to go there for the
beaches as this is a special place and beaches are (relatively) similar
everywhere.

Ngorongoro is a good option when you haven't been to watch the African
wildlife before. The place is packed of animals. The only East African
mammals you wont find are girafs, impala and strangely no female elephants.
Animals are used to vehicles so you can get close.
