What I do is very simple. I keep identification on me at all times that
includes my family doctor's contact info. He knows how to reach my
family in the event of a medical emergency. For non-medical things, I
simply joined AAA which has a wide range of emergency services beyond
roadside assistance, plus I carry a cell phone with a nationwide calling
plan. I also give my parents and one or two co-workers a copy of my
itinerary when I travel by air. I don't see what more I need to do in
order to protect myself during my travels from an emergency.
