not as bad as Nairobi, but Mombasa is not crime-free.

My recommendation would be to walk through the old city without
carrying anything. Have a little money in your pocket and enjoy.

The chance is 50-50 (:-)

I would never do it, because of the risk of having someone too
close that has some disturbing characteristic. But that's just
me.
