You should read the fine print carefully and let some others buy in
first. TSA has already said they are not promising no random
searches, faster service or much of anything else other than a
separate line that may or may not be faster and so on and they are
clearly reserving the right to change ther rules any way at any time.
I think it finally filtered up to them that this idea is just a
highway for terrorists to use since all they need to do is recruit
people with squeaky clean backgrounds or get a good fake Identify in
place.
Ultimately, I think this is either going to be a boondoggle that makes
the companies charging the fees a nice profit or it is the first step
in eventually making the service mandatory for everyone flying. There
is immense pressure to find a way to establish a national identity
card regardless of what the public wants or does not want and this is
one way to sldie it in quietly.
