You really believe this?

No, dumb ass, that isn't how it was.

What do you base this nonsense on?
What does a tax treaty with Australia have to do with the IRS?
The Australians government isn't going to force you to pay IRS if you
are a US citizen. However, that doesn't mean the US Government doesn't
believe you are responsible for filing. That said, you don't need to
worry about it too much because you don't earn more than the excluded
income amount. (Note, for people that actually care about this law,
making below the foreign income exclusion amount (somewhere over $80K)
doesn't exempt your from filing)
1. If you are a US citizen and male between 18-26, you must register
with Selective Service.
2. If you are a US citizen, then the Cuban travel restrictions apply to you.
While it may never affect you, the law is the law.
No one is going to come after you in Australia for breaking these laws,
but that doesn't mean you are legally subject to them in the eyes of the
US Government.
Again, if you don't wish to follow the law, why not abandoned your US
citizenship? You obviously feel no sense of belonging to this country.
However your legal views can be dangerous to those who start believing them. |
