Providing you booked these flights as one itenerary (e.g. SWF-DWT-FRA,
rather than SWF-DWT & DWT-FRA) you should be fine. If your flights
were booked seperately then you would have to check the luggage again
at DTW. I am guessing you are booked on NW all the way. If not the
bags should be checked all the way, as long as the two airlines you
are flying on have interline bag agreements. I think most of the
majors airlines do now a days.
