That you were talking about the freedom of the open road, then
qualifying it with having to travel on a specific day, to meet a ferry
at a specific time. I think there are very few people who would consider
the long drive from London to Aberdeen just to take a ferry trip much
fun, unless it was padded out with a stopover. Otherwise, it's just
driving from A to B, no matter how much you say you enjoy it. I would be
at my destination several hours before your holiday (i.e. ferry)
started. I can't think of anyone who considered a very long single drive
like that anything other than a chore. And then you do the whole tedious
thing again on the return.
