Now I am screwed. Everyone here told me that would fine that they
would still be around in a few months when I am in Hawaii. Now I will
need to a way to get from Hilo to Honolulu, so that I can make my
flight home on United.

I do sympathise, if I was in your position I wouldn't be at all happy. But
the people who are really screwed are the employees who'll lose their jobs.
