Consider that since the November 2005 riots, I stay in the suburbs
northeast of the city out beyond CDG. When youj start to get that
far out from Paris, there are very few public transport options.
Becuase the riots have flared up again (thought not nearly as
bad) a few times), I prefer to play it safe and stay out in
the suburbs either at one motel right off the Autoroute,
or at one of the B&Bs there. Where I prefer to stay
at, you are getting out into the French countryside, where
public transport is almost nonexitent.
From Survilliers, where I prefer to stay, when covering French Open
in May or Trophee De France figure skating in November, the
most convenient option is to go by car. I simply get right onto the
Autroroute and drive towards Paris, shifting over to one other
freeway, where I can take one exit and be right at Rolland
Garros. I don't know HOW much EASIER you can get
than that.
