Yup. But with IP4 that public address (generally) changes every time
you connect so it can't be linked to an individual machine beyond the
immediate LAN. With IP6 the address is in practice if not theory,
fixed for your machine permanently. Its essentially like sending out
your serial number all the time all over the world.

Enough fuss was made about serial numbers embedded on some intel CPUs
which could be used to id a machine. When this finally catches the
publics attention I suspect a big stink will ensue.
