Yep, got it in one. I used them around India as well, and they proved
to be pretty good in more or less every way I could think of. Very
difficult to fault.
Their real "star" was the "Kingfisher Red" (single class) A321 I used
from Delhi to Bangalore. This had very wide, comfortable seats
(definitely wider than the A330-200 ones on the long-hauls) and a very
classy interior including wood-effect panelling at the ends of the
cabin - and seat-back IFE on a 2.5 hour domestic flight!
All-in-all, about as far away from the Ryanair approach as you can get
- but apparently not profitable at present (though UB Group are by no
means short of money to build them up to profit) so maybe O'Leary has
a point...
