Yes it is better you take flight Banaras to Katmandu and Katmandu to
Delhi. In India now a days if you book 30 days advance it is nearly a
second class AC train ticket. This way you will have more time and
also less trouble. You can utilize this time in visiting Jaipur,
Jodhpur, and Jaiselmer for Forts, desert, and Indian culture. Taj is
also a good option. All above places are near by Delhi and have taxi
and Good AC Bus facility. It is better to avoid Goa since it has
nothing to give you Indian flavor. In December it is fully over
crowded and very expensive.
