I just talked to my wife in the Philippines, and she will have to come back
without having been able to cash the US$ travelers checks! The best she
could have done was have them converted into local pesos. With the exchange
rate these people offered, forget it.

If you are travelling anywhere such as the Philippines, better to buy the
local currency here than to waste your holiday time chasing around to cash
the traveler's checks.
