Well of course there is no guarantee that you will get sick. I spent a year
in India and was never sick. Basically drink bottled water. Do not drink
water from a tap. Concentrate on prevention rather than cure. Might also be
advisable to take some shots such as Hepatitis shots before you go. These
shots are a series and so you have to start them early. From memory you get
one shoot followed by a booster a few months later. Depending upon where in
India you will go you may also want to consider anti Malaria tablets.
As for reliable diagnosis, again depending upon where you are travelling
they do have some good hospitals etc.
