anytime when the Japanese aren't travelling: December-January, end of April
to beginning of May, summer, and August are all expensive. Right now
flights from the States / Canada are very cheap. In the fall they are also
cheaper but I would say late winter and early spring are the cheapest times.
I saw a Northwest fare for about $600 - that is very cheap!
