India Tours - Help Needed! Posted on: 8 Feb 2004 08:17:18 GMT

I have never been to India before, and am planning a trip in October 2004.

I am posting this, in the hope that someone can offer me some advice, as we
are long for a fairly independent trip .The 1st week will be spent visiting
the likes of Delhi, Samode, Jaipur & Agra (usual tourist route!!!!),
followed by a relaxing time near a beach (but NOT GOA).

Firstly, I have selected a travel Itinerary, and based upon experience form
other countries, found it cheaper for a local "tour operator" to book my
hotels & also supply a driver (1st week only). UK tour operators are wanting
to charge about £2,000 for 1 week (each), and when you break down the costs,
flights cost about £500, and the accommodation and £400 - so where does the
extra £1,000 go? Mmmmm.

Secondly, we need inspiration where to spend some time chilling out, and
want somewhere that feels tropical - I've looked at Goa, but this doesn't
hit the mark. Has anyone got views on Kerala?

I would be most grateful for any thoughts comments & warnings.

Many thanks,

Simon.
