Nothing in KL is close to the airport. It is a 45 minute ride minimum!
A couple of years ago I stayed downtown at the Hotel Grand Continental (it
may be named something else now.) It was a nice place, close to everything
in central KL. It was clean and fairly inexpensive. I think I paid 100MR
($26USD including breakfast---local and western food) in a rate I got
through the internet.
Good luck!
