I'm planning a trip along the Transmongolian railway (Moscow - Beijing) and
I'm wondering how the situation is regarding ATM's along the route. I know
it won't be a problem in either Moscow or Beijing, but what about other
major cities along the route, such as Irkutsk or Jekaterinenburg? And what
about smaller cities?

I'd prefer to use a debit card (Maestro system), but could also use a
credit card if needed.

And what about changing money? According to Lonely Planet, in many places
only USD are accepted. However, in my experience, changing EUR was no
problem in St. Petersburg. Would that be different in other (smaller)
Russian cities?
