Subject: Japan Rail Pass Posted on: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 13:47:37 +0000 (UTC)

I am travelling to Japan next week from Ireland and needed to buy a 7
day rail pass. I had understood that the price was fixed, in Yen, and
would only fluctuate due to currency movements. I went to Trailfinders
and paid almost 300 Euros (including a 35 Euro agent charge as I
didn't buy any flights with them). I've since discovered another Irish
agent who only charges 236 for the same pass. Should these prices not
be controlled or am I just paying the price for expecting agents to be
satisfied with their standard mark up?
