I have been on Phuket twice. Next summer I will most likely visit the
island third time. In Phuket there is southern culture, moslem culture and
so on culture. There are lots of tourists in *some* of the western beaches.
Patong is pretty dull a place I agree. However, it is not all steaks and
hamburgers. There truly is choice in Patong. Last time I visited a "German"
restaurant. Sauerkraut was naturally served and steak....... Phuket is just
very nice place to visit. Roads are also in very good condition. Naturally
one can see natural beauty in so many places in Thailand. Therefore Phuket
can be passed like any other place and visit it some time in future.
Actually during the high season it can be a very good idea to visit some
quiet place and avoid sky rocketing accommodation fares.
