Rather than rejecting messages which stray slightly off-topic outright,
they are occasionally edited before distribution, and an explanation
inserted to explain the delay.

As long as the meaning is clear, any English is fine, except that
chat-room style is not permitted.

Actually, there's no prohibition against posting in languages other than
English, but no one has ever done so, and it's unlikely such messages
would be accepted since the majority of the membership would not
understand them, and so they wouldn't be of any help. Plain text format
would anyway be a problem for two-byte character sets such as Chinese
characters.
But there's no point in discussing this here: the simplest thing is to
subscribe to the list by visiting the URL below, and to get the detailed
guidelines. If those guidelines do not appeal, obviously it's best to
resign again, which is easily done with the click of a button. There are
plenty of other forums for discussing China travel in any manner you
please.
