Actually the malaria risk is higher in Southern India than in Myanmar
(in Myanmar for instance we didn't take any malaria pills). No problem
getting the visa either. Airtickets for flights within Myanmar cost the
same as for flights within India, but travelling overland is definitely
more interesting. You can do Yangoon - Mandalay overnight with the train
for instance.
