Can anybody who has been to Luang Prabang recently recommend reasonably
priced
and nice accommodation? Fan room is fine, but a soft bed a necessity for me.

My last trip there was about 3 years ago, but the place is changing so fast
so
I would like to get info from people who visited since.

Highly recommended (though very simple rooms):
Vanvisa Guesthouse, Ban Watthat, 42/2 Luang Prabang (+71-212 925). A
traditional Lao/French villa with six large teak-floored rooms, ceiling fans
and an excellent breakfast. $10 per night. Vandara usually holds her cooking
classes at her Kuang Si Guesthouse in Ban Tha Baen village, phone to book
rooms or lessons.

Maybe it's harder to get in after its write-up in the UK Gurdian newspaper
last year.

I can't remember how the bed was but I slept OK. No a/c.
