> 1. We are flying to Hong Kong from Osaka airport at 10.50 AM on April

> but I am not sure about travel logistics/timings to Osaka.
You have direct trains from Kyoto station to Kansai airport via Shin-Osaka.
The trains' nickname is 'HARUKA' and they start Kyoto station at:
HARUKA # 1: 5.46am
HARUKA # 3: 6.22am
HARUKA # 5: 6.46am
HARUKA # 7: 7.16am
HARUKA # 9: 7.50am
HARUKA #11: 8.16am
HARUKA #13: 8.49am
HARUKA #15: 9.16am
Every HARUKA stops at Shin-Osaka in about 30 minutes after departure and
arrives to the airport in after another 60 minutes (i.e. 90 minutes from
Kyoto departure).
To get to the airport 2 hours before flight departure (10.50am), HARUKA #5
or #7 will be good. If you want to sleep 30 minutes more, you'll sleep the
last night near Shin-Osaka.
HARUKA's seat reservation is available at anywhere in Japan, including
Narita airport. There are non-reserved seats too.
NOTE THAT HARUKA STOPS AT SHIN-OSAKA (Shinkansen terminal) BUT NOT OSAKA
STATION (conventional trains' terminal).
> 2. We are arriving in Tokyo at 4.00 PM on Mar 26th. How about 5 nights
> in Tokyo and 2 nights in Kyoto (effectively, only 4 nights in Tokyo)?
How about sleeper trains?

There is one more overnight train very famous to backpackers for its
bargain price, nicknamed MOONLIGHT NAGARA, but getting its reservation is
too hard in the days of your visit.
