Subject: Re: Take a bus or rent a car? Posted on: 13 Jul 2005 12:32:44 GMT

Indeed, completely decomposing the message would take much time, but I
will try to answer what I perceive to be your "questions"

1. No, you should not rent a car (apart from the obvious point that a
car is much less safe than public transport), your fear of terrorist
attacks on a train seems to be way overrated

2. You should not rethink your vacation, unless you plan to go
specifically to a disaster zone and thus hinder local safety and
research personell. Changing your plans is not only non-sensical (why
would a second attack occur in such a short notice in the same region
(apart from warzones), it would also establish the goal of the terrorist
which is to instill FUD.

3. Great Brittain is not pulling out, and most certainly not due to the
atttack.

4. I do not understand your remark with respect to overtaxed populaces,
WHSS etc.

5. Conspiracy theories will always appear, whichever media you turn to.
The story that the governments of the US and UK are behind attacks on
their own citicens is highly unlikely, and in case of the UK
nonsensical. (There is no goal to be had; election time is over, there
are no mass protests against the war in Iraq)

6. No, the war was not sanctioned by the UN, and no, not many countries
agreed to invade Iraq, which is why the US, UK and Australia are now
there instead of a multinational army.

7. Why and how something gets posted on the internet is simple. You
wonder about something so you post in a newsgroup, exactly what you have
done. The reason why people post that? Millions can be given, but a
classic example is the mystery concerning JFK.

8. Stating that someone is a religious leader is stating that he is the
Pope. Mr. Bush is not. Furthermore, you can see pictures of him helping
elderly women cross the street. Now, if you really believe those are for
real you should really stop using the internet, unless you get any more
funny ideas. Finally, IF Mr. Bush were to attend any crusades, he would
be somewhere wielding sword and shield (or modern-day equivalents)
instead of leading a country.

9. The internet is not mainstream media, it is a worlwide network of
computers where anyone can state their opinions and read others'
(exceptions off course exist). Therefore, you can read virtually
anything, and it is up to you what to think of it. With respect to
shutting down internet sites, you must be out of your mind. First of
all, it is perfectly possible to shutdown sites (as is done with those
containing child .ography) and as China is showing you can prevent an
entire population to have full access to the internet. However,
suppose the story is true. Now, as a world leader do you:
a. Remove the site and put the author in prison
b. Let it be, it will blow over
c. Vigourously deny

10. I am glad to see you will be sorry of the story turns out to be
true, however, how remote do you think is the chance of that ever being
proven?

Hope that helps?
