"I am looking to buy a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Madras
(Chennai) for early December. It looks like my only options are Thai
and Indian Airlines (I am only interested in nonstops due to time
constraints). Thai is quoting $400+. Is this reasonable?"
Could you buy your ticket from the US to Thailand as a through ticket
to Chennai with a stopover in Bangkok? That would probably be a lot
cheaper than buying the US-Thailand and Thailand-India round trips
separately. Usually the price of a round-trip from Bangkok to Kolkata
is around US$ 250, and US$ 300 to Mumbai or Delhi, so US$ 400 to
Chennai doesn't seem unreasonable. If you don't need to go to Bangkok
at all, then maybe you would get a better deal flying through Singapore
or Dubai on your way to Chennai.
